Constance Forsyth is the daughter of preeminent Hoosier artist William Forsyth. Constance attended Shortridge High School and received a bachelors degree from Butler University. She then attended Herron and also studied at the Pennsylvania Acacemy of Fine Art (PAFA). She was hired as a Instructor and Professor of Art at the University of Texas in Austin where she spent the rest of her life. We are very interested in purchasing artwork by Constance Forsyth. The following information was submitted by a site visitor: Constance Forsyth (1903-1987) was one of three daughters of William Forsyth. She graduated from Herron Art School, studying under her father, Clifton Wheeler and Paul Hadley. She also attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and received a Bachelor of Art from Butler University. Other professional training included being an assistant to Thomas Hart Benton on the Indiana history murals for the Century of Progress International Exposition in Chicago in 1933. She exhibited her works at all of the Irvington Artists Exhibits. She moved to Austin to teach printmaking at the University of Texas from 1940 to 1973, and participated in numerous shows throughout the United States and abroad, including the Library of Congress, National Academy Galleries in New York, Denver Art Museum, and the 18th Indiana Society of Printmakers Annual Exhibition.
