Hallie Pace was born in 1868 in Salem, Indiana. She studied painting at the John Herron Art Institute and Indiana University, but did not begin painting professionally until she was in her mid-fifties. Her instructors included William Forsyth, Anna Hasselman, and Blanche Stillson at John Herron Art Institute. At Indiana University, she studied with Robert E.
