Elmira Kempton of Richmond, Indiana lived from 1892 to 1971. She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under James R. Hopkins, Herman H. Wessel, Clement Barnhorn, L.H. Meakin, Albert Krehbiel, Eliot O'Hara and Wayman Adams. Kempton's exhibitions include the National Association of Women Artists from 1944 to 46; a solo exhibition at the Argent Gallery in 1944, the Indiana Arts Council in 1944 and 1946 and the Richmond Art Association from 1944 to 1946.
