Helen Goodwin was born in New Castle, Indiana. She studied at the Art Institute in Chicago, 1893-94, the Academie Julian and later in Munich. Also with Charles Hawthorne and at Shinnecock with William Merit Chase. She returned to Indiana and was a member of the Indiana Artists Club, the Hoosier Salon and the Provincetown Art Association.
