Lucy Adams was born in Warren, OH in 1855. She moved to Indiana and studied at the Indiana School of Art from 1891 to 1894. She then studied at the Art Students League in New York for a year, and moved back to Indianapolis to study at the John Herron Art Institute. Lucy divorced her husband, Dr. Charles Wilson of Indianapolis, and moved to Miami, FL by 1933. She continued to paint there, primarily in watercolor, well into her nineties.
