Gordon Benjamin Mess (born--Cincinnati, Ohio) studied with: The Herron Art School, with Randolph Coats Gaston Balande, Andre Strauss, Jean Despujois, Fountainebleau, France Anthony Theime, Rockport Emile Gruppe, Gloucester Member and past president, Indiana Artists Club; Scottish Rite, Shrine, Caravan Club. Awarded the Muncie Star Prize, Hoosier Salon, 1931: Foulke Prize, Richmond, Indiana 1931: Indiana State Fair, first prize, Fine Arts, oil, 1931: Anonymous Purchase Prize, also Wallace O. Lee Prize, Indiana Artists Club, 1938. Exhibited at Palace of Fontainebleau, France: Alumni: Fountainebleau, New York City; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; Herron Art Museum; Cincinnati Art Academy; Hossier Salon; Richmond Art Association; Ball State College: Indiana University; North Dakota State College. Represented in Richmond Art Association; Valparaiso Public Schools; Indianapolis Schools and numerous private collections.
