Born in Oak Park, Illinois and trained as an artist at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Fine Art Academy, Brander is best remembered as a regional artist who worked primarily in landscapes and is especially noted for snow scenes. Brander's landscapes and cityscapes were exhibited during his lifetime at the Hoosier Salon, the Chicago Gallery Association, and the Palette and Chisel Club from which he won a Gold Medal in 1936. A snow scene by Brandner hangs in the dining room of the Club. Sources: Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Brandner The Old Palette, thisoldpalette.blogspot.com/2006/08/karl-
