John Albert Seaford was born in North Carolina and grew up in Spiceland, IN. He studied architecture in Boston and was involved in the early art scene in (oddly) Richmond, IN. By the turn of the 20th century, he was splitting time between these two locations. His output is equally split -- many Boston cityscapes and harbor scenes along with Indiana landscapes. He was also a rather prolific illustrator for newspapers in Boston and a few New England colleges.
