Homer Davisson was born in Blountsville, IN. He studied art for several years at DePauw University. It was there that he became particularly interested in landscape painting. After leaving DePauw, Davisson studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Art Students League in New York City, and the Corcoran Art School in Washington, D.C. After several year working as a portrait painter, Davisson moved to Europe to study at art schools in Munich, Holland, and France. He was in Europe for three years, and then moved back to Indiana, settling in Fort Wayne. He became the drawing and painting instructor at the Fort Wayne School of Art, in addition to continuing his own landscape paintings. He was an active member of the Brown County Art Gallery Association, painting there frequently during the autumn season. He exhibited his work frequently at the Hoosier Salon, and his work can be seen at Ohio Northern University, DePauw University, and the Fort Wayne Art Museum.
