Joseph Tomanek was known for his nudes painted in garden settings. Very art nuveau. He also did religious scenes and murals and did billboard work as a commercial artist. He lived in Chicago but maintained a summer home and studio in Ogden Dunes in Porter County, Indiana. Tomanek is also known to have been a frame maker for Frank Dudley -- a dunes neighbor.
