Will Henry Stevens studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and Art Students League. He worked for Rookwood and painted in the Smokie Mountains. Eventually he moved to New Orleans and was on the faculty of Newcomb College. It was during this period that Stevens became more of a modernist. We are interested in artwork by Will Stevens. The following information was submitted by a site visitor: Will Henry Stevens (1881-1949) was born and died in Vevay, Indiana, and is receiving much recognition from collectors and museums. During his career, he successfully integrated the nationalistic spirit of the American Regionalists with the groundbreaking philosophies of the European avant-garde. Stevens' body of works, both abstract and representational, are in museum collections throughout the country, including the Museum of Fine Art, Boston; Smithsonian and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He exhibited extensively while living in New Orleans and teaching summer classes in North Carolina and Tennessee.
