Emabelle (Em) Flanagan was a well-exhibited Indiana artist born on July 1, 1915 in Wooster, Ohio. Formerly an artist in Anderson, Indiana, she maintained a studio in Nashville for 20 years. She was wife to James E. Flanagan, whom she married on May 22, 1937. The artist taught landscape oil painting in Indiana for many years and also acted as a juror of art shows. She painted in a mid-century, impressionistic style. Flanagan was a well-exhibited artist whose majority of significant shows were in Nashville, Indiana. She was a featured artist in the September exhibition at the Brown County Art Guild upstairs galleries in 1972 and also exhibited at the Brown County Art Guild in August of 1979. She would later relocate to Bradenton, Florida where she died on August 9, 1999 at the age of 84.
