Ruth Anderson was born in Indianapolis July 7, 1914. She studied at John Herron Art Institute under Clifton Wheeler and Gerry Pierce. Her work consists of pieces featuring children, still lifes, landscapes and cityscapes. Ruth Anderson has several exhibition records in Indiana as well as an association with Tuscon, AZ through her western travels. She received many prizes including Hoosier Salon entries in 1960, '61, '69, '73 and '76; Indiana Art Council in 1974; All-State Exhibit in Tucson, 1937. Anderson also taught at both Shortridge High School and the Indianapolis Art League (now the Indianapolis Art Center).
