Margaret Rudisill was born in Montgomey County, IN in 1843. She traveled to Paris in 1889 to enroll in the Academie Julian. While there, she studied with Adolphe-William Bouguereau, Tony Robert-Fleury, and Alfred-Emile Stevens. Margaret specialized in landscape and figurative scenes painted in oil. Her work was included in several group shows around Indian, in addition to the Paris Salon, ca. 1889-92, and the World's Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Source: Skirting the Issue, by Newton and Weiss
