Frank Peyraud was born Bulle, Switzerland in 1858 and originally studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He emigrated to Chicago, IL in 1881 and began working as a painter. Peyraud was well-known for his impressionistic rendering of the surrounding Midwestern landscape, particularly his winter scenes. Peyraud was also an accomplished muralist and art teacher and lecturer.
