The following information was submitted by a site visitor: Edwin Fulwinder (1913-) was born in Bloomington, Indiana. Fulwinder is known for his personally stylized streetscapes. He studied at the John Herron School of Art under teachers such as William Forsyth, Clifton Wheeler, Ralph Sowell, Donald M. Mattison, and Henrik M. Mayer. He later studied the Old Masters in England, Belgium, France, Italy, and Switzerland, after being awarded the Mary Milliken Traveling Prize. He exhibited widely in the Hoosier Salon, Brown County Gallery, Herron Art Museum, and was the winner of the J.I. Holcomb Award in 1940. He was also one of nine artists chosen from Indiana for th San Francisco Worlds’s Fair “Golden Gate.” Fulwinder was a teacher of fellow artist Robert Indiana During his stint at Herron School of art in 1945.
