The following information was submitted by a site visitor: John T. McCutcheon (1870-1949) was born in Tippecanoe County and graduated from Purdue University in 1889. He served as the editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune until 1946 where he made cartoons daily about various subjects such as sports and politics. He received the Pulitzer Prize in 1931 for his editorial cartoon “A Wise Economist Asks a Question.” He was awarded an honorary Doctorate degree from Northwestern University in 1943. McCutcheon was a good friend of fellow Hoosier George Ade, and they collaborated on many projects.
