Louis William Bonsib Greasy Creek Greasy Creek (1972) SOLD --- This work was featured in our 2nd Annual Curated Sale of Historic Indiana Art, April 8th, 2018 at the Indianapolis Art Center. --- Exhibited in the 1972 Hoosier Salon This painting was featured in our weekly email on 5/12/17 along with the following gallery comments: Gallery Comments Louis Bonsib grew up in Indianapolis and attended IU. Upon graduation, he returned to Indianapolis and worked at an engraving company. He soon established his own printing and marketing firm and located it in Fort Wayne, IN. After serving in WWII, he returned to Fort Wayne and turned over the day to day operations of the business to his sons, he released his tax returns to the public and began painting full-time. Bonsib would have been about 80 when he entered Greasy Creek in the 1972 Hoosier Salon and his painting days were drawing to a close. Still, a nice, competent and light example of Bonsib's work featuring that iconic Brown County waterway. Oil on board Signed lower right
