--- Edmund Brucker was born in 1912 in Cleveland, OH. He studied and graduated from the Cleveland School of Art. He was married to Marcelline Spencer on the day he won the Hoosier Salon 1939 “Outstanding Work in Oil” award. They had one child, Robert S. Brucker. Brucker has been known to have been exhibited in the Hoosier Salons of, 1939, 1943, 1945 (displayed Machinist’s Mate), 1952, and 1979. At the Hoosier salon of 1952 he had a solo exhibition. Over his career with the Hoosier Salon he won over 160 awards. He was a member of “The Twenty”, a Hoosier Salon artist group formed in 1948, by 1952. Ed was honored by the Chairman of the Indianan Arts Commission , Sister Kathryn Martin, S.P, along with other artists for being Senior members of the Hoosier Art Salon in 1979. He was also a member of the Art Association and Riviara Club. Aside from being an artist his career was as an art professor at the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, IN. He started there in 1938 and retired in 1983 (48 years). During his time at the school he painted over 500 portraits of prominent Hoosiers. He died on June 2, 1999 in Indianapolis, IN and is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
