The following information was submitted by a site visitor: Paul Edward Beem (1908-1979) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended the Herron School of Art, the Chicago Art Institute, the Art Students League in New York, and the Pasadena Art School. Some of his instructors include: Elmer Taflinger, William Forsyth, and George Bridgeman. He was a successful figure and landscape painter. Beem exhibited at the Hoosier Salon and has pieces in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Art, Dayton Art Institute, and Indiana University. He won the J.I. Holcomb Award in 1931 and the Still-life Prize from the Hoosier Salon in 1939.
