Paul Turner Sargent Brown County Overlook Brown County Overlook This painting appeared in our weekly email on 6/24/16 with the following gallery comments: Paul Turner Sargent was born and raised outside Charleston, IL and never left the family farm. His subject matter as a painter was not terribly far afield – many paintings featuring Eastern Illinois, some Chicago locations and otherwise, Brown County where he often ventured to paint. Today’s painting Brown County Overlook (or title) is one of those dear Brown County scenes. It was suggested that perhaps it’s a view from T.C. Steele’s property. Entirely possible since the piece was created in 1922, four years before Steele’s passing. The painting is clean and in very good condition. The original frame was recently restored (in-house) and has a great patina to it. A very nice example featuring an iconic Brown County vista. Oil on Board Signed Lower Left
