This Byrum watercolor was featured in our weekly email on 12/5/13 along with the following gallery comments:

Ruthven Byrum’s output was often large, tonalist oils set in the Smoky Mountains. But Byrum is also the darling of Anderson, Indiana and created several works reflecting scenes from his hometown. This week’s Painting of the Moment is exactly that – set in 1933 in the midst of the depression, it’s a view of Anderson from the White River featuring a waterside figure, rail activity and an overall slice of 1933 life. A nicely rendered piece and interesting document of the period.
