This painting was featured in our weekly email on 11/14/14 along with the following gallery comments: Otto Stark was a member of the Hoosier Group and a teacher at both Manual Training High School and Herron in Indianapolis. His life was consumed with painting and so it’s interesting how little of his work hits the market. In fact, this is the first Stark oil we’ve ever offered. House in the Woods is a very pleasant example. Vibrant and impressionistic, the work speaks for itself. The signature, lower left, is strong and the painting has gone through conservation and is stable and in great shape. There is a small amount of in-painting (less than 3%). Housed in a c.1980s reproduction frame. A classic addition to any Hoosier art collection. - Curt Churchman, Fine Estate Art
