Louis Bonsib grew up in Indianapolis and attended IU. Upon graduation, he returned to Indianapolis and worked at an engraving company. He soon established his own printing and marketing firm and located it in Fort Wayne, IN. After serving in WWII, he returned to Fort Wayne and turned over the day to day operations of the business to his sons, he released his tax returns to the public and began painting full-time. Bonsib would have been about 80 when he entered Greasy Creek in the 1972 Hoosier Salon and his painting days were drawing to a close. Still, a nice, competent and light example of Bonsib's work featuring that iconic Brown County waterway.
