| Paul Turner Sargent | Brown County October Landscape | Recently cleaned; recent frame. This painting was featured in our 1/13/2023 Weekly Newsletter. "Paul Turner Sargent was born on the Sargent family farm in tiny Hutton Township, IL (a few miles SE of Charleston, IL). He studied art at the Chicago Art Institute, completing that work in 1912, then returned to the family farm to paint full-time. He was extremely prolific, vowing to create a new piece every day, which he did for 30 years. Outside of the farm and surrounds, he often traveled to Brown County for subject matter, making his first trip in 1920. Sargent was a bachelor and remained on the family farm his entire life. Today's painting captures his output well. "Brown County October Landscape" (our title) is a very representative, impressionistic Brown County vista. This piece is unsigned which is not atypical of Sargent. Several pieces were sold out of the estate, many of them unsigned." | Oil on Canvas | Unsigned | |
